Planning ahead – Tools to help you

Our expertise costs nothing and we’re here to help families plan ahead.

Year on year, research points to the staggering numbers of funerals arranged where families have little or no clue what their loved one would have wanted. This can make an already difficult time harder, and there are many good reasons why planning ahead is worthwhile.

Whether you need to plan ahead for yourself or someone you love or need help to trigger a conversation more widely, here are a selection of tools to help you. We do this by listening to what’s important.

Here’s some of the ways we can help.

Plan of Wishes service

You make your choices, whether that’s chapter and verse or just a few decisions, and we’ll prepare a free printed Plan of Wishes for storing with your important papers or sharing with key people. You don’t need to be elderly or unwell to start a Plan of Wishes. In fact, quite the opposite is recommended. Plans can be updated at any time as life’s circumstances change.

Prepaid funeral plans

Putting money aside that is protected and designed to cover the main costs of your funeral is best achieved through our Golden Charter prepaid plans. Each one is tailored to your requirements. They fix our professional fees at today’s prices guaranteeing them for when you need us.

Professional advice on your doorstep

Speaking with a local funeral director allows you to identify what is essential and explore other possibilities so you can plan a funeral that’s just right. For some, this will be a no-fuss send-off and for others it may be an elaborate farewell. It costs nothing to talk to us. With 27 branches throughout Scotland and North East England, we can help you face-to-face in branch or in the comfort of your own home.

However remote death is now, leaving a clue for those we love, and being intentionally loving by asking someone we love whose funeral we may have to arrange, is difficult. With our help, be the 1% of UK individuals who feel confident about organising a funeral* because “we know what they wanted.”
