Hydrolysis, also known as water cremation, is legally possible in Scotland and we look forward to being able to deliver hydrolysis funerals once a facility is available.
Considered a more sustainable and gentler option to flame cremation, hydrolysis involves an alkaline solution applied in a pressurised chamber to accelerate the natural process in a similar timescale to cremation. Like ashes, powder is returned to families.
